Back-up Solutions

You should back up your computer files so you have a copy of them somplace other than on your computer. This is important in case your computer ever has a serious problem, such as virus infection, a defective hard drive or corrupt operating system. Viruses and hard-drive failure can damage your files to an unrecoverable extent.

Recommendations

Client Support recommends using an external hard drive to back up your files. Other options include using a flash drive (USB memory stick), burning the files to a CD/DVD, and taking advantage of the file storage provided to you by Stony Brook University called MySBfiles.
